
Mateo Ventura Bruer

Mateo Ventura Bruer (he/they), is Xicane, descended from the peoples of Teocaltiche (Jalisco) and Pénjamo (Guanajuato) in what is now Mexico. Mateo has extensive experience that includes knowledge and skills in leadership, operations, learning & development, justice, equity and inclusion in both for- and non-profit spaces. Mateo is dedicated to collective liberation and decolonization, and believes that the roots of oppression around the world are weaponized white supremacy and capitalism.
Mateo holds a Master of Arts in Social Justice & Human Rights from Arizona State University and a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish Language & Literature with a Minor in Latin American Studies from the University of Montana. He is proud to be the Board Chair of the Advocacy Network on Disabilities and has received the Bishop S.F. Makalani Mahee Trans Equality Award in 2023 and the Trans Inclusive Group Visibility Award in 2024.
