Power building is providing the appropriate resources to our communities to support self-determination and sustainability. Effective power building removes barriers and constraints so our communities can pursue regenerative economic development. NDN Fund provides power-building resources to organizations and individuals to help them become investment-ready. While not all of these organizations will necessarily receive a loan from NDN Fund, they will be in the waterway for future funding opportunities. Further, the power-building resources they receive from NDN Fund will help prepare them to receive a loan from other investors. NDN Fund also works to build the investment community’s understanding of the economic opportunities in Indian Country by cultivating and strengthening direct relationships between organizations in our waterway and other funders and investors.
We do this in many ways, including but not limited to the following:
- Supporting businesses with feasibility studies around marketing and business development to determine if taking on a loan from NDN Fund is a viable option
- Providing organizational formation assistance, including business plan development
- Supporting potential loan relatives with loan application assistance
- Other services as needed and available
NDN Fund meets Tribal Nations, Tribal Enterprises and/or Corporations, Native nonprofits and organizations, and Native-owned resilient and regenerative businesses where they are, understanding what they want to do and the transformative impact they want to have in their Indigenous communities. NDN Fund tailored power building resources alongside the capital, enabling our borrowers to receive what they need to progress. This approach moves beyond the traditional transactional relationship in conventional lending and moves to one with a higher touch with our clients so they can accomplish their goals.
