Anissa Martin

ACTION ORGANIZER

Anissa Martin (She/Her), is a citizen of the Oglala Lakota Nation. Prior to joining NDN Collective Anissa was a cultural mentor at Oaye Luta Okolakiciye – Moving Forward in a Sacred Way. She has a Bachelor of Science in Psychology with a minor in Public Health and Addiction Studies from the University of South Dakota. In 2023 Anissa was awarded the University of South Dakota 30 Under 30. She is also co-Founder of Lakota Women of the Plains Society (LWOP) which is an initiative of sisters dedicated to rematriating spaces for Indigenous winyan (women) and community building through Lakota culture & thiíkceya wóunspe (tipi knowledge). LWOP organized the first community tipi challenge event on Pine Ridge Reservation – Oglala Lakota Nations Annual Lakota Women Tipi Challenge. Anissa has a strong commitment and belief in the power of community and grassroots organizing.
