FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: August 22, 2025
Rapid City, SD – Today, NDN Collective – an Indigenous-led organization dedicated to building Indigenous power since 2018 – released Working For The People: NDN Collective’s 2024 Impact Report.
Some highlights from 2024 include:
- Distributing $26.9 million in grants to 315 grantees
- Supporting twelve businesses through our braided capital model which has totaled over $9 million in loans and power-building resources
- Returning 475 acres to Tribes and Community Land Trusts
- Training over 200 people across 15 different Indigenous communities
- Organizing for the successful release of Leonard Peltier and getting him home safely
“Despite the political conditions and the risks, NDN Collective continues to build Indigenous power,” said Gaby Strong, Vice President of NDN Collective. “We know that when we organize and move in solidarity towards the common good of the People, this work will outlive us and inform our grandchildren’s lives. The 2024 Impact Report demonstrates our small part in the greater collective work being done now and into the future.”
“We believe our vision must be as great as the challenges we face – and in 2024, we rose to meet the moment,” said Nick Tilsen, founder and CEO of NDN Collective. “We had some big wins: amping up the pressure that helped free Uncle Leonard Peltier, protecting the Pactola Reserve from mining, and so much more. As we face down an increasingly hostile political climate, we will continue working sustainably to Defend, Develop, and Decolonize for the next seven generations.”
“In 2024, NDN Collective was everywhere – in the offices of lawmakers, in the streets, building power and community in Rapid City, holding trainings across Turtle Island, and so much more,” said Wizipan Little Elk Garriott, NDN Collective President. “We believe our work last year provided a critical foundation to continue mass Indigenous resistance against state violence. No matter the political and economic challenges we face, NDN Collective is not going anywhere.”
