Job Summary

Reporting to the Director of Strategic Communications & Impact, the Digital Organizing Manager manages all social media and digital organizing platforms for NDN Collective. They provide both technical and strategic support for teams across the ecosystem for digital organizing. They coordinate information, photos, media, copy, graphics, and other assets from across the ecosystem and share them on our 7 social media platforms to keep our audiences engaged with our campaigns. They act as a key thought partner and creative within the Narrative & Storytelling team to help reclaim and shift important movement narratives related to Indigenous self-determination, sovereignty, LANDBACK, and more.

THE POSITIONPrimary Duties and Responsibilities

Manage the NDN Social Media Strategy

  • Manage and post content across all seven social media platforms with a combined 500,000 followers
  • Co-create content for social media with teams across the ecosystem, including support with drafting or reviewing graphic art copy and captions
  • Collaborate with content creators and movement partners to produce engaging material to share online
  • Design, implement, and track a social media strategy to align with NDN Collective goals
  • Set specific objectives and report on monthly and annual analytics
  • Work with the Narrative & Storytelling team to ensure caption copy and art copy is optimized for our audiences and program goals
  • Use social media platforms to engage our audiences in calls to action driven by the He Sapa Initiatives, Landback Action Network, NDN Store, LANDBACK For The People Podcast, Grantmaking, and the Advancement team
  • Train teams across the ecosystem in social media tools and coordinate a content publishing calendar
  • Manage contracts and consultants to produce video content for social media
  • Reconcile credit card purchases and maintain the social media subscriptions: Bitly, LinkTree, Google Voice, Hootsuite, Ads, Canva
  • Regularly engage with our online community’s content and respond promptly to direct messages in accordance with our brand guidelines 
  • Up to 30% travel depending on the current campaigns. More commonly we expect 15-20% national travel for this role including to frontline actions, legal hearings, annual events, and team gatherings to support Narrative & Storytelling goals, including content collection, creation, live-streaming, and general coverage. 

Manage NDN Digital Organizing Strategy

  • Use digital organizing tools including Action Network, Tatango, and Constant Contact to organize our audiences in calls to action driven by the He Sapa Initiative, Landback Action Network, Grantmaking, and the Advancement team
  • Support updates to the NDN Collective website and Landback.org website to maintain current calls to action
  • Research current benchmarks, tools, and audience trends
  • Set specific objectives and report on monthly and annual analytics
  • Maintain, update, copyedit, and create petitions in collaboration with various teams
  • Train teams and create guides for teams across the ecosystem to utilize digital organizing tools
  • Segment lists accordingly, utilize A/B testing, and identify opportunities for deepened engagement with our base
  • Co-create content with teams across the ecosystem for email, sms, social media (including Facebook events), web, written pieces, Zoom registration pages, Google forms/Jotforms, and other related materials 
  • Maintain and clean contact data and lists in all digital organizing tools used by the ecosystem, including exporting data, importing data, and ensuring all systems are integrated and synchronized with Salesforce
  • Support the online fundraising strategy for the FTP Campaign in partnership with the Advancement Team as needed
  • Maintain relationships with platform account representatives and meet with them to understand tool updates, metrics, upgrades, and troubleshoot as needed  
  • Reconcile credit card purchases for Tatango and Constant Contact
  • Offer trainings at our annual He SĆ”pa Action Camp, virtually, or in partnership with our movement partners
  • Participate in both virtual and in person trainings offered by NDN Collective and our movement partners
  • Other duties as assigned 

WHO YOU ARE – Education, Experience, Knowledge, and Skills

  • Prior organizing experience required, 5 – 10 years preferred
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred with 2 – 5 years of professional experience preferred.
  • Experience working in a non-profit, Tribal, or Indigenous organizing setting with social media (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn).
  • Experience working with Gmail Suite (Docs, Sheets, Forms, Drive).
  • Prior experience managing contracts/contractors and/or employees. 
  • Excellent political analysis of Indigenous issues including Indigenous rights, social justice, environmental justice, gender justice, and decolonization. 
  • Solid judgement for content that will motivate our audience to our calls to action and be engaging to the general public
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work with a range of groups, including campaigns, consultants, and community members/partners
  • Excellent project planning and organizational skills, ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities and provide administrative/programmatic support to NDN communications and narrative team staff
  • Strong ability and desire to work in a collaborative and remote team environment
  • Strong motivation and ability to take initiative
  • Prior experience using Constant Contact or similar email tool for digital organizing
  • Preferred experience using Tatango or similar SMS tool for digital organizing
  • Preferred experience using Action Network or similar petition tool for digital organizing
  • Prior graphic design experience is a plus
  • Willingness and ability to travel frequently throughout the year
  • Occasional weekend work for rapid response scenarios may be required but will not be common

This position is salaried, commensurate with experience, ranging from $ 78,000 – $ 89,000. Compensation includes a generous benefits package including medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as a 401(k) retirement savings plan, a wellness program, personal leave, professional development, and more.
