Job Summary:
The Landback Action Network (LAN) is a membership-based organization advancing the Landback Movement which brings
together Indigenous Peoples, Tribal Nations, grassroots groups, artists, organizers, institutions, and aligned
accomplices — through Organizing, Political Action and Resourcing. Reporting to the Managing Director of the Landback
Action Network, the Membership Associate will assist with all aspects of technical support and coordination
across the Landback Action Network, its members, and work collaboratively with members of the Training and Organizing team.
THE POSITION
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Work closely with the LAN Managing Director to establish and develop the newly formed Landback Action Network.
- Develop processes, platforms and tools for identifying, vetting and strengthening the Network membership in order to advance its mission and agenda.
- Manage the LAN digital platform(s) through which members will share and receive content and information, including LANās Smartsheet, LANās Discourse platform and content and blogs for Landback.org and social media.
- Support Director of LAN by planning and organizing meetings with key stakeholders across the ecosystem to determine alignment and interest among grantees, partners, artists and trainees.
- Develop and manage organized outreach lists made of network members within constant contact (e.g., by region, state).
- Support the development of structure and protocols for membership goals, expectations, responsibilities and accountabilities.
- Manage and coordinate a network calendar of events and convenings and support planning for in-person convenings as needed and appropriate. Support the coordination of regular touch points to share with network via email, and identify quarterly convenings across network virtually
- Foster a safe environment for network members in all virtual and in-person meetings and convenings.
- Prepare, edit, and deliver data, documents, presentations, visuals, and reports for a variety of audiences.
- Provide technical and logistical support to the LAN team in programming and strategy implementation.
- Travel nationally and internationally as required
- Any other duties as assigned
WHO YOU ARE
Education, Experience, Skills
- The ideal candidate has lived experience in Indigenous communities, a strong awareness, political analysis, and articulation of Indigenous issues, especially in regard to grassroots organizing and coalition building.
- 5 to 10 years of organizing experience, preferably in Indigenous communities. We prefer that you can be vouched for by community leaders or people known to NDN Collective.
- 3-5 years of experience working within Indigenous-led community organizations, non-profits, or a similar environment.
- Experience as a facilitator, trainer, educator, or similar role is preferred.
- Must be very tech savvy and have experience working with Google Suite (Gmail, Docs, Sheets, Forms, Drive), Microsoft Office, Signal, Cryptpad, and be comfortable learning other platforms
- Comfortability with speaking and writing in Spanish is preferred, as we work with people and organizations throughout Mexico and Central America.
- Experience in managing relationships across networks and coalition-building around shared goals and campaigns
- Has the ability to navigate movement spaces and frontline struggles while remaining accountable to NDN collective and an organization that is resourcing the movement.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work with a range of groups, including, organizers, membership, consultants and community members/partners
- Excellent planning and organizational skills, ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities and provide administrative/programmatic support to the Network Team
- Maintains an understanding of and commitment to social change through building the capacity and power of people to positively affect their communities and to participate directly in changing public policies
- Strong political analysis of Indigenous issues from both lived and professional experience.
- Experience with security culture tools and practices; development and implementation.
- Willing to execute day-to-day tasks and work independently
- Must have a commitment to Indigenous self-determination and decolonization as well as creating transformative educational and community experiences
- Strong ability and desire to work as a team, even in a remote setting

This position is salaried, commensurate with experience ranging from $60,000-$72,000. Benefits include
