Foster Cournoyer Hogan

Bison Coordinator

Foster Cournoyer Hogan (He/Him), is Sicangu Lakota and Tribal Citizen of The Rosebud Sioux Tribe. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Native American Studies and Education from Stanford University, and a Master of Tribal Administration and Governance from the University of Minnesota Duluth. He is a member of the Native Nation Rebuilders Cohort 14 through the Native Governance Center. 

He brings experience in catering and integrating cultural ingredients into meals, emphasizing the significance of traditional foods in Indigenous diets. As part of his commitment to food sovereignty, he piloted a Native Farm-to-School program for the Rosebud Reservation, connecting students with locally sourced, culturally relevant foods. An avid buffalo harvester, Foster is a passionate advocate for Indigenous food sovereignty and the revitalization of the Lakota language in relation to buffalo restoration. Additionally, he forages traditional herbs and medicines, highlighting the importance of these practices for community health and sustainability. His work and drive for bridging culture, food and health has taken him nationally for curated lunches, presentations and consultation. He held the honor of catering a meal to Former Secretary of the Interior Deb Haaland, and her staff within the Bureau of Indian Affairs on The Road to Healing Tour.
