Rapid City, SD – Today, NDN Collective released the first episode of the LANDBACK FOR THE PEOPLE podcast Season 2. The podcast, hosted by NDN Collective President & CEO Nick Tilsen (Oglala Lakota), is dedicated to the liberation of Indigenous Peoples’ and our lands.
The first episode of Season 2 is available on Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music, and wherever you listen to podcasts, as well as on YouTube coming Wednesday, March 13.
LBFTP provides a space for movement leaders and activists to share their up-close-and-personal experiences that are often bold, action-oriented, solution-focused, and unapologetically Indigenous. Stories include past and present liberatory movements, reclaiming Indigenous lifeways, rebuilding Indigenous economies, fighting to protect Mother Earth, and getting Indigenous lands back into Indigenous hands.
“This season we will continue to lean into real talk,” said Nick. “While there are efforts to water down the LandBack movement, it’s important that we re-center and remind the world that the LandBack movement is an Indigenous Liberation Movement.”
This season will have 10 episodes featuring stories with Indigenous organizers, activists, Matriarchs, and Protectors from across the Indigenous world, along with global allies and accomplices at the center of their own LANDBACK struggles.
The first guests of the second season are Demetrius Johnson, Kiley Guy, and Jennifer Marley from The Red Nation and Red Media. The Red Nation is dedicated to the liberation of Native peoples from capitalism and colonialism.
On this podcast, we get back to the origins of LANDBACK, digging deep into history, while keeping our eyes on the future of Indigenous liberation where we all have a place in the circle to bring our gifts, our skills, and our love for our People and the Land.
“We are truly fighting for our lands, our people and our future. This means being in the streets, on the Land and throwing down. We will highlight how Indigenous LandBack creates real solutions to combating global climate change,” Nick said. “We will remind the world that this movement wasn’t created by some narrative strategy team somewhere or some think tank far away from the frontlines. This movement came from organizing and being in struggle with one another for the protection of Mother Earth.”
