The Warehouse Manager will oversee NDN Collective’s Warehouse systems and policies.

Job Summary:

Reporting to the Director of Operations, the Warehouse Manager will oversee NDN Collective’s Warehouse systems and policies. The goal is to ensure Warehouse systems are effective and functioning within the limits of budget, time and specifications of the organization.

We are creating a paradigm change in how society invests in Indigenous Peoples by dramatically scaling up investment and shifting decision-making power.   1. We are dramatically increasing philanthropic investment into Indigenous-led organizations, with the goal of giving out $50M per year in grants.
  2. We are creating an Indigenous-led CDFI to move $100M of for-profit investment into projects led by and serving Indigenous communities.
  3. We are building capacity in Indigenous communities to be able to absorb this new influx of capital.
  4. We are advocating for Indigenous rights and policy changes that will enable our peoples and communities to thrive.

THE POSITION

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensure that all equipment and vehicles are correctly stored, maintained, and ready for use.
  • Conduct regular inspections of facilities & equipment to detect and resolve problems. Plan, organize, maintain, and manage the operations and reliability of facilities, equipment, and general infrastructure systems.
  • Coordinate with NDN Collective Operations Team to develop systems and to keep an up-to-date equipment inventory database and files on equipment identification, use, damage, and repair.
  • Serve as a trainer during action-related skills training, and work with the NDN Collective Culture & Learning Team to develop training programs and protocols.
  • Be accountable to the NDN Collective Operations Team on all financial aspects of action projects, including budget proposals, cost control, processing invoices and producing after-project budget reports.
  • Ensure that NDN Collective Operations is informed of all action equipment-related issues upon completion of an event, including the return/replacement of seized equipment and updating equipment logbooks.
  • Conduct thorough risk assessments and risk mitigation plans for field activities.
  • Assess and judge activist and volunteer proficiency as relates to technical skills, the ability to safely and competently operate heavy equipment, and proper use of personal protection equipment.
  • Assess and judge activist and volunteer proficiency to exercise sound judgment in the field, ability to represent the NDN Collective ecosystem in public settings, with an ability to function calmly under extreme duress.
  • Facilitate opportunities to hold open events at the warehouse.

WHO YOU ARE

Education, Skills, and Experience

  • 3 years’ experience working in a campaigning organization
  • Commitment to the Indigenous goals and values of NDN Collective
  • Experience in creating and adapting warehouse systems
  • Extensive knowledge of safety requirements and health practices 
  • Proficiency in one or more of: climbing, first aid, tactical communication, fabrication, working with heavy machinery
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Experience being managed remotely or being self-managed
  • Proven team leadership, management abilities, and personnel assessment skills
  • Knowledge and experience using/applying/caring for equipment
  • Experience managing and motivating volunteers
  • Experience in coordinating and/or team leading in direct actions and/or experience in managing large teams of people in complex and stressful situations
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills
  • Excellent organizing, project management, and planning skills
  • Budget management experience
  • Ability to be self-directed and to work well under pressure
  • Understanding of health and safety issues relating to facilities and equipment
  • Ability to work with confidential information
  • At least 21 years old, with a valid and clean driver’s license
  • Ability and willingness to travel extensively

This position is salaried, commensurate with experience, ranging from $57,000 to $74,000.  Benefits include medical, dental and vision insurance as well as 401(k) retirement plan, a wellness program, personal leave and professional development.
